Grunge Girlz

What you need:
Scrap Kit, Smack This by Roo; you can get it for free at www.digidivas.com while their birthday celebration is going on.
Standing and sitting tube.  I am using the artwork of Mark Wasyl.  I have a CILM license to use his work.  CILM has closed and I haven’t found where he is selling tubes of his work anymore.
Eye Candy 4000, Gradient Glow

This tutorial assumes that you have working knowledge of Paint Shop Pro and it’s tools.  This tutorial was written by Valerie Atwell of KLBDesignz, on June 4, 2012.  You may not copy it, distribute it or claim it as your own.  You are welcome to include a link back to my tutorial for your groups and forums.  If this tutorial resembles any other in existence, it is purely coincidence.

Open Element 21.  Hit Shift + D on your keyboard to duplicate it.  Close the original.  Go to Image, Canvas Size, Width 600 Height 600, click ok.  Adjust, Sharpness, Sharpen.

Open Element 59.  Copy and Paste as a new layer.  Resize the mesh by 75%.  Adjust, Sharpness, Sharpen.  On the layers palette, click and drag this layer to move it to the bottom.

Open Element 08.  Copy and Paste as a new layer.  Resize by 60%.  Image, Free Rotate by 35.  Move it to the top left corner of the frame.  Adjust, Sharpness, Sharpen.

Open Element 10.  Copy and Paste as a new layer.  Resize by 50%.  Image, Free Rotate by 10.  Move it to the left side of the skull.  On the layers palette, click and drag this layer just under the skull layer.  Adjust, Sharpness, Sharpen.

Duplicate this star layer.  Image, Mirror.  Move it to the right side of the skull.  Adjust, Sharpness, Sharpen.

Grab your magic wand tool and click inside the wire frame.  You will have to hit shift and click around the stars to get it all selected.  Go to Selections, Modify, Expand by 5.

Add a New raster layer.  Open Paper 04.  Copy and Paste into selection.  On your layers palette, move the paper layer under the wire frame.  Selections, Select None.

Open Element 18.  Copy and Paste as a new layer.  Move it to the top right of the frame.  With your magic wand, click inside the heart charm.  Be sure to shift and click inside the link of chain inside the charm.  Modify, Expand by 5.

Add a New raster layer. Open paper 09.  Copy and Paste into selection.  Move this layer below the charm.  Select none.  You may have to erase some of the paper at the top.  Change the blend mode to Overlay.   Activate the charm layer.  Adjust, Sharpness, Sharpen.

Add a drop shadow to the charm layer and any other other layers if you choose.  I used the following settings:  V-2, H-2, O-80, B-3, color Black.

Make sure your charm layer is active.  Click zoom until you can see the charm really well.  I zoomed to 250%.

With your eraser tool with the following settings:  Round, Size 5, Hardness 58, Step 36, the rest at default settings.  Erase enough of the ring so that it looks like the charm is hanging on the frame.  See my example if you need to.  Zoom back out so that you can see the whole tag.  I zoomed out to 83%.

Open Element 92.  Copy and Paste as a new layer.  Resize by 50%.  Move it to the bottom left corner of the frame.  Adjust, Sharpness, Sharpen.

Open your sitting tube.  Copy and Paste as a new layer.  Bring it to the top layer.  Resize it as needed.  I “sat” mine on one of the stars on the right side of the frame.  I also added a thin glow to her instead of a drop shadow so that she stands out.

Open your standing tube.  Copy and Paste as a new layer.  Move it under the wire frame.  Erase any of the excess tube that is outside of the frame.

Change the blend mode to Hard Light with the Opacity set at 67%.

Add your copyright.  I put mine inside the tag so that it is hard to remove.

Add your name.  I used a Grunge Font called Old Printing Press then added the same glow that I used on the first tube.

Save it as a PNG so that the background is transparent and you are done!

Thanks for doing my tutorial.

10.  Copy and paste your tube as a new layer.  Resize it as needed.  Duplicate the tube layer.  Drag the bottom tube layer below the frame and add the first drop shadow above.
11.  On the top tube layer, use your eraser tool to erase the bottom part of the tube so that the frame is visible again.
12.  Copy and paste butterfly (3).  Resize by 60%.  Add drop shadow.  Apply Unsharp Mask.  Move to the left side of the frame.

Kat Scratch Fever

This is one of my older tuts from the MSN groups days......This tutorial was written May 7, 2006 by Valerie Atwell and is the sole property of KLB Designz. Any resemblance of this tutorial to any other tutorial on the web is purely coincidental. You may text link or print my tutorial for your personal use ONLY. Any other usage requires my express written permission. This tutorial assumes you have some knowledge of the Paint Shop Pro program and can be done in any version.

I have a confession: My name is Valerie and I'm addicted to Masks. LOL It seems that most of my tuts contain a mask. What can I say. They are fast and easy to use!

On to the Tutorial!

What you need:
PSP
Font of your choice
Tube of your choice
My supplies HERE

Place the masks in your mask folder and the pattern in your patterns folder.

Don't forget to save your work often. One tip is to save it as a .pspimage at first then save periodically. Also, if you plan to make this for more than just yourself, rename your font layer (right click on the font layer and choose rename) with the name of your font.  I save my "blanks" in a folder called blanks.

Open your font and minimize it. Open your tube and minimize it as well.
Open a 600x500 transparent canvas. Floodfill it with the pattern.
Add a new Raster layer. Floodfill this layer with white.
Go to Layers, Load/Save Mask, Load from Disk, Tile Wave with these settings:

Delete the mask (this will merge it into the layer below) and merge visible.
Go back to Layers, Load Mask from Disk and choose Nik-Ceramic Tile this time.

Delete the mask and merge group.
Add a new Raster layer. Floodfill it with black (Don't panic, we're going to move it). Go to Layers, Arrange, Send to Bottom.

Layers, Merge visible.
Now, go to Image, Add Borders, pick a teal color from the pattern (or a lighter color from your own pattern) at 4 pixels.

Go to Layers, Promote Bg Layer.
Image, Resize, 85%, Bicubic, Resize All Layers unchecked.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer. Resize as needed.
You can use my drop shadow below or your own favorite settings.

Add the copyright information for your tube and your own watermark.
You can add any accents or embellishments you desire.
Now the name on the tag, use the font of your choice. For my font, I used a size of 100. Add your drop shadow from before or any other effects you want.
Resize it, remember to check Resize All Layers and make sure Bicubic is selected when you resize.
Save As a jpeg and you are DONE!!
Thanks for doing my tutorial!!

Kits and Such

Well I haven't been working on any kits. I have my Girl Scout kit started, but it may be a little bit before I am ready to release it. I do have some templates to share later today though. I wrote a new tutorial yesterday. You can find it on my tut blog here. I hope you like it. The photo was taken while my daughter and I were on a camping trip with the Girl Scouts this weekend. What a fun weekend it was!

Working...

I'm working on a new kit. It's especially for Girl Scouts and Girl Scout leaders, so stay tuned. I'm close to being done. I know I keep saying that and then I change gears. I've been quite busy lately and just haven't had much time to create. I need the practice. Have you seen some of the kits out there?! WOWZERS! I have a long way to go before I am of that caliber that's for sure. I'll share what I create though. I hope you can use it.
